A collaborative workshop on generative AI in undergraduate mathematics teaching.

On Wednesday, October 28, Lund University will host Øresundsdagen 5, a one-day collaborative workshop on how to, and how not to, leverage generative AI in undergraduate mathematics teaching. The workshop is jointly organised by Mathematics NF at Lund University, Sweden, and DTU Compute at the Technical University of Denmark in Copenhagen.

Focus of the workshop

Øresundsdagen provides a forum for teachers, educators and other stakeholders involved in university-level mathematics education to discuss current challenges, exchange experiences and explore new approaches. This year’s workshop will focus on how generative AI is changing undergraduate mathematics teaching, with particular attention to the balance between trust and accountability in assessment, individualised learning and collective learning, and machine-based and human competencies.

Programme and presentations

The programme will combine short lectures, panel discussions and collaborative workshop sessions, with perspectives from mathematicians, students, educational researchers and industry representatives. Participants are also warmly invited to contribute short presentations of 10–20 minutes to share their experiences, reflections and best practices.

Registration and practical information

The programme will run from 10:00 to 17:00, allowing for same-day travel where possible, and will be followed by an informal conference dinner where discussions can continue.

There is no registration fee. Participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses. Registration is open until 30 September. If you would like to give a presentation, please indicate this when registering. All presentations will be held in English.
