Introductory meeting and registration

The programme starts with a mandatory introductory meeting on Thursday 25 August at 10:15 in the Hörmander Lecture Hall, Mathematics Building, Centre for Mathematical Sciences, Sölvegatan 18, Lund. At this meeting we will discuss the programme as well as the courses given during the autumn semester in more detail.

In connection with the introductory meeting we will finalize the course registration process for the first semester within the programme.  If you for some reason cannot attend, you should inform the director of studies in advance. You may also register yourself for the courses that you have been admitted to on the official student administration system called Ladok one week before the start of the courses.

First semester courses

Newly admitted to the Bachelor´s Programme in Mathematics will read the following courses during the first semester:

All these courses are given each semester, the first two in English during the Autumn and Swedish in the Spring, while NUMA01 is only given in English.

General information about our courses as well as up-to-date information about schedule, course literature etc. is published on the course websites available in learning platform Canvas. All admitted students are given access to this platform where you log in using your student account credentials.

Note though that in general you will have full access to specific information regarding a certain course once you have been officially registered to the course in question.

Refresher course in mathematics

Before the autumn semester of 2022, we are offering a new refresher course in mathematics, MNXA21, which covers selected parts of high-school mathematics (up to and including Mathematics 4) to facilitate the transition to mathematics studies at university level. For international students, the course also serves the purpose of giving students an overview of relevant content from the Swedish mathematics upper-secondary school curriculum.

The course is highly recommended to all students admitted to our beginner courses in mathematics such as MATA21 Analysis in One Variable. The course comprises 1.5 ECTS which is equivalent to one week of full-time study, but as all the material is pre-recorded and available online, students can read it at their own pace before the beginner courses start. All newly admitted students to the Bachelor's programme in mathematics and physics automatically get access to the course material that is available in the Canvas learning platform. Officially, the course is scheduled at half speed for two weeks before the start of the semester when a teaching team is available to answer any course-related questions.

Please note that the course cannot be included in a university degree in mathematics and physics, therefore it is not necessary to be registered on the course. Students who wish to be officially registered for the course must first apply for it at antagning.se, where the course has been advertised during the summer of 2022.
