Women in Mathematical Sciences - Talk by Megan Howarth (University of Geneva)

Tid: 2026-06-01 16:15 till 17:15 Seminar

In this event organised by Women in Mathematical Sciences at Lund, we have a PhD student from the University of Geneva. This talk will assume knowledge of undergraduate group theory.

Title: Dyer groups have the falsification by fellow-traveller property

Abstract: Dyer groups are a family of groups that generalise both Coxeter groups and graph products of cyclic groups, and they have been shown to share some of their fundamental properties. It is known that these two classes of groups form Cannon pairs, that is, have finitely many cone types with respect to some finite generating set. In this talk, I will introduce Dyer groups and some relevant properties. Then, I will show that there exists a generating set for which they satisfy the falsification by fellow-traveller property, which implies that they, too, form Cannon pairs.
