Title
On the Carreau–Yasuda model for Generalized Newtonian Fluids
Abstract
Generalized Newtonian fluids are non-Newtonian fluids where the shear stress tensor is dependent on the shear rate of the velocity field. This phenomenon is characterized by an efficient viscosity function governed by a parametrization of the Carreau–Yasuda model, from which, a handful of shear viscosities can be found via interpolation of experimental data. In particular, the Carreau–Yasuda model can perfectly be used for characterizing Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids alike depending on data fitting. We will present the model equation, interpolation methods for obtaining these coefficients from experimental data, and also numerical experiments on a lid-driven cavity flow with variable parametrizations.
