What is the widest paper Möbius strip you could make?

Abstract

In the spring, I had some students do a project about "The optimal paper Moebius band". I found the proof to be really fun, and so I want to share it! We will go through the major ideas of the proof of one of the theorems in the paper, and learn fun things like the Borsuk-Ulam Theorem and why the bends on a Möbius strip look like a sphere.
