Mathematical modeling and large scale simulations are key tools in engineering and science. Their usage requires stable, accurate and efficient mathematical software. Numerical analysis consists of construction, analysis and implementation of approximation methods and the usage of these methods to develop new technology within applied sciences.
The Numerical Analysis & Scientific Computing Group in Lund conducts research with a special focus on differential equations and often within industrial and interdisciplinary projects. Ongoing projects include:
- Adaptivity: Control, signal processing and grid density.
- Assimulo a Cython/Python based simulation package for solving ODEs and DAEs.
- Modeling traffic with stochastic dynamics.
- General adaptive multistep solvers for ordinary differential equations
- Solving integral equations of potential theory in three dimensions: non-smooth surfaces and metamaterials.
- Splitting schemes for systems of nonlinear PDEs.
