Abstract. In this talk, I give first a short overview of my research interests and ideas for new projects. I concentrate then on numerical methods for integro-differential equations and the connection to spectral properties of a related operator function. Time permitting, recent work will be presented on wave equations with memory such as Maxwell's equations (with a time convolution term), Gurtin-Pipkin type of equations (viscoelastic structures with Bolzmann damping) as well as the Jordan-Moore-Gibson-Thompson equation with memory.
