Groups acting on rooted trees
Groups acting on rooted trees, especially the so-called branch groups, have been vastly studied over the past few decades, owing to their exotic properties - in particular, branch groups have been used to answer important open problems and disprove conjectures. Furthermore, there are connections between branch groups and other areas of mathematics, such as dynamics, geometry, etc. In this talk, we will look at the origins of branch groups in connection to the famous Burnside Problem, and discuss some current research topics.

Deep Learning and Medical Image Analysis
Deep learning relies on large datasets, something that can be hard to collect for medical applications. In this talk I will discuss some medical image analysis applications where deep learning can be utilized, and methods that can be used to improve the performance despite limited datasets.
