Pedagogical colloqium at Centre for Mathematical Sciences with Rachel Forsyth, Educational developer at Unit for Educational Services

Abstract:

This seminar is intended to provoke discussion on the impact that Generative AI tools may have on teaching, learning, and examination in higher education. Some of the main challenges and opportunities will be summarised, and some practical suggestions for teachers will be offered for further discussion. Come prepared to share and defend your opinions! The seminar will be in English. 

About the speaker:

Rachel Forsyth is a senior educational developer at Lund University, Sweden. Following a PhD in physics, she taught physics at a UK university for many years before moving full-time to research and teaching related to university education. She is particularly interested in curriculum design, digital learning, and assessment design and management, and is currently researching how trust is built and maintained in the classroom situation. Her last book, Confident Assessment in Higher Education (Sage, 2022), is a practical guide for anyone working in higher education to understand and improve assessment and her next, co-authored with Sam Illingworth, Generative AI in Higher Education, will be published by Bloomsbury in January 2026.
