## Application for courses, autumn semester 2017

Due to the very flexible structure of the programme, students must apply for the courses that they wish to study each semester. The application is done via antagning.se (the Swedish version of universityadmissions.se). Programme students are guaranteed admission to all courses given by the Faculty of Science as long as the specific admission requirements are fulfilled and the application is submitted on time.

The application deadline is **18 April** **2017** for the upcoming autumn semester. It is important that you submit your application on time! All courses will be closed for application after the deadline and may or may not be reopened for late applications before the start of the semester.

Contact the student counsellor or the director of studies if you need assistance with your application. Instructions for non-Swedish speakers on how to apply on antagning.se can be found here.

## Courses in Mathematics, Spring 2017

The spring semester starts on Monday 16th of January. The files below contain general information regarding introductory meetings and schedule for all courses in mathematics. More detailed information can be found on the course websites.

- Introductory Meetings, Spring 2017
- Mathematics Courses Spring 2017
- Schedule for Written Exams Spring 2017
- Courses in Mathematical Statistics Spring 2017

Students admitted to one or several of our courses within the programme will receive more information regarding the courses at the beginning of January. Students placed on the admission´s reserve list or students who have submitted a late application will receive a decision regarding the admission around 16th of January.

## Mathematics 2, New Courses, Spring 2016

Starting in the **spring 2016, **a new course structure is implemented in the second semester of the programme. The old courses MATB15 *Analysis in several variables 15 hp* and MATB11 *Linear a lgebra *are replaced by the following courses:

Code | Course | Credits | Period |
---|---|---|---|

MATB21 | Analysis in Several Variables 1 | 7.5 | 1 |

MATB22 | Linear algebra 2 | 7.5 | 1 |

MATB23 | Analysis in Several Variables 2 | 7.5 | 2 |

All courses are given at half pace. MATB21 and MATB22 run in parallel during the first half of the semester, while MATB23 runs during the second half of the semester and can be combined with one of the following courses:

Code | Course | Credits | Period |
---|---|---|---|

MATA23 | Foundations of Algebra | 7.5 | 2 |

MATB13 | Discrete Mathematics | 7.5 | 2 |

MATB16 | Linear Analysis | 7.5 | 2 |

NUMA41 | Basic course in Numerical Analysis | 7.5 | 2 |

All courses are given in English each semester except MATA23 which is given in Swedish during the autumn terms.

## Mathematics 1, New Courses, Autumn 2015

From the **autumn 2015** we are implementing a new course structure for the first semester. The main reason for this is to offer our students the opportunity to study programming and computational mathematics at an earlier stage in the programme. The following courses are available:

Course Code | Course | Credits |
---|---|---|

MATA21 | Analysis in One Variable | 15 |

MATA22 | Linear Algebra 1 | 7.5 |

MATA23 | Foundations of Algebra | 7.5 |

NUMA01 | Computational Programming with Python | 7.5 |

*Analysis in One Variable* runs at half-pace during the whole semester. *Linear Algebra 1* runs parallel to this course during the first half of the semester. For the second half of the semester, students choose one of the courses* Computational Programming with Python* and *Foundations of Algebra.*

All courses will be given each semester, in English during the autumn semester and in Swedish during the spring.
