Courses in Mathematics, Autumn 2018

The Autumn semester 2018 starts on Monday 3 September and ends on Sunday 20 January 2019. No classes are scheduled during the winter holiday, that is from 22 December 2018 to 6 January 2019.

Courses and programmes starting in the Autumn semester have been open for applications on and/or its Swedish counterpart, The latest application round has been closed on 16 April. Certain courses at upper-basic and advanced level may be open for late applications on in August.

Admitted students will receive more information regarding the courses in August. Students placed on the admission´s reserve list and students who have submitted a late application will receive a decision regarding the admission in early September.

Information about introductory meetings and course schedules will be available at TimeEdit-webb five weeks before the start of the semester. For instructions on how to use TimeEdit see the Schedule link in the left menu.

Course websites for all courses in mathematics are available in live@lund.

Courses in Mathematics, Spring 2018

The Spring semester 2018 started on Monday 15 January and ends on Sunday 3 June.

The course schedules, including written examinations, are available at TimeEdit-webb. For instructions on how to use TimeEdit see the Schedule link in the left menu.

Course websites for all courses in mathematics at the Faculty of Science are available in live@lund.

Mathematics 2, New Courses, Spring 2016

In the Spring 2016, a new course structure was implemented in the second semester of the programme. The old courses MATB15 Analysis in several variables 15 hp and MATB11 Linear algebra were replaced by the following courses:

MATB21Analysis in Several Variables 17.5      1
MATB22Linear algebra 27.5      1
MATB23Analysis in Several Variables 27.5      2

All courses are given at half pace. MATB21 and MATB22 run in parallel during the first half of the semester, while MATB23 runs during the second half of the semester and can be combined with one of the following courses:

MATA23Foundations of Algebra7.5      2
MATB13Discrete Mathematics7.5      2
MATB16Linear Analysis7.5      2
NUMA41Basic course in Numerical Analysis7.5      2

All courses are given in English each semester except MATA23 which is given in Swedish during the autumn terms.

Mathematics 1, New Courses, Autumn 2015

A new structure for the first semester courses within the Bachelor´s Programme has been implemented in the Autumn semester 2015. The main reason for this was to introduce programming and computational mathematics at an earlier stage in the programme. The following courses are available:

Course CodeCourseCredits
MATA21Analysis in One Variable15
MATA22Linear Algebra 17.5
MATA23Foundations of Algebra7.5
NUMA01Computational Programming with Python7.5

Analysis in One Variable runs at half-pace during the whole semester. Linear Algebra 1 runs parallel to this course during the first half of the semester. For the second half of the semester, students choose one of the courses Computational Programming with Python and Foundations of Algebra.

All courses will be given each semester, in English during the autumn semester and in Swedish during the spring.
