Courses in Mathematics, Spring 2018

The spring semester starts on Monday 15 January.

Information about introductory meetings and course schedules is available at TimeEdit-webb. For instructions on how to use TimeEdit see the Schedule link in the left menu.

Course websites for all courses in mathematics given in the spring semester are available in live@lund.

Students admitted to one or several of our courses within the programme will receive more information regarding the courses after 8 January. Students placed on the admission´s reserve list and students who have submitted a late application may receive a decision regarding the admission after the introductory meetings.

Application for Courses, Spring 2018

Due to the very flexible structure of the programme, students must apply for the courses that they wish to study each semester. The application is done via (the Swedish version of Programme students are guaranteed admission to all courses given by the Faculty of Science as long as the specific admission requirements are fulfilled and the application is submitted on time.

The application deadline is 16 October 2017 for the upcoming spring semester. It is important that you submit your application on time! All courses will be closed for application after the deadline and may or may not be reopened for late applications before the start of the semester.

Contact the student counsellor or the director of studies if you need assistance with your application. Instructions for non-Swedish speakers on how to apply on can be found here.

Mathematics 2, New Courses, Spring 2016

Starting in the spring 2016, a new course structure is implemented in the second semester of the programme. The old courses MATB15 Analysis in several variables 15 hp and MATB11 Linear algebra are replaced by the following courses:

MATB21Analysis in Several Variables 17.5      1
MATB22Linear algebra 27.5      1
MATB23Analysis in Several Variables 27.5      2

All courses are given at half pace. MATB21 and MATB22 run in parallel during the first half of the semester, while MATB23 runs during the second half of the semester and can be combined with one of the following courses:

MATA23Foundations of Algebra7.5      2
MATB13Discrete Mathematics7.5      2
MATB16Linear Analysis7.5      2
NUMA41Basic course in Numerical Analysis7.5      2

All courses are given in English each semester except MATA23 which is given in Swedish during the autumn terms.

Mathematics 1, New Courses, Autumn 2015

From the autumn 2015 we are implementing a new course structure for the first semester. The main reason for this is to offer our students the opportunity to study programming and computational mathematics at an earlier stage in the programme. The following courses are available:

Course CodeCourseCredits
MATA21Analysis in One Variable15
MATA22Linear Algebra 17.5
MATA23Foundations of Algebra7.5
NUMA01Computational Programming with Python7.5

Analysis in One Variable runs at half-pace during the whole semester. Linear Algebra 1 runs parallel to this course during the first half of the semester. For the second half of the semester, students choose one of the courses Computational Programming with Python and Foundations of Algebra.

All courses will be given each semester, in English during the autumn semester and in Swedish during the spring.
